The CroYdon Wine and Olive Estate located on Old Main Road on
the edge of Somerset West is proving to be a huge hit with local Capetonian and
Joburg buyers says Claudine J Wheeler, homeowner and resident agent on CroYdon Vineyard Estate.
In under a year, 45 plots, most with building plans and 10
completed homes have sold to a mix of residential and international & Joburg
investor buyers at prices of between R650 for a plot and
R2,85 million for a
completed home.
Plots priced between R650,000 and R900,000 have sold to
buyers from Belgium and the Netherlands. A mix of Joburg investors and buyers
relocating to the city have snapped up 8 plots, priced from R650 000 to
R900,000 for 780sqm, most with building plans for homes priced up to R3,1
million.
The remaining 34 plots sold to local Capetonian buyers, many from the
Northern Suburbs and even Camps Bay say Claudine.
Claudine attributes the buoyant sales to the fact that the
estate offers an affordable Winelands lifestyle. Out-of-town buyers are drawn
here not only for the tranquil surroundings, but also the security and close
proximity to the airport, city, beaches (which are a mere ten minutes away) and
the facilities such as shopping, medical, schools and wine farms that are
literally on the doorstep.
CroYdon is the first working wine residential estate in the
country and produces an award-winning red wine under signature of Beyers Truter
of Beyerskloof.
Aside from living amongst vineyards with stunning views of the
Helderberg Mountains as well as Table Mountain, owners own a share of the
winery and get an annual allocation of the wine produced on the farm.
The estate comprises 43 hectares with 205 properties. Stands
average 780sqm in extent and sell from R650,000 depending on location while
completed homes sell for around R2,8 million depending on size and finishes.
